Jo Hackett has been helping the Wimberley community for about 6 years with Crisis Bread Basket. She started as a volunteer. While still working in Austin she would spend her Thursdays distributing food to Crisis Bread Basket clients.
In 2013 Jo became a member of the board of directors, and she is now chairman of Crisis Bread Basket. She oversees the organization while helping with distribution.
Jo loves that she can be there for her community by giving them the help and support they need. “ I feel like sometimes folks just come to get loved on, and that’s what we do,” says Jo. “We do not judge. We are just here for them whatever their circumstances”. Jo also enjoys seeing other members of the Wimberley community help. She says the Crisis Bread Basket volunteers are great, and many clients eventually give back to the organization.
Jo is very happy with Crisis Bread Basket’s accomplishments. The building has undergone many improvements, and Crisis Bread Basket is now offering fresh produce therefor customers have more options. “They get the chance to pick and choose what food is best for their family’s needs,” says Jo. Wimberley also voted Crisis Bread Basket best non profit this year.
As for the future, Jo Hackett is happy to continue supporting the Wimberley community through Crisis Bread Basket.“Thank you Wimberley community, we rely on you to stay in business!” says Jo.
