The Crisis Bread Basket Today:
Since those early days 30 years ago, the Bread Basket has grown exponentially. The Crisis Bread Basket is a grassroots, community endeavor. Volunteers are the backbone of this organization. Our selfless volunteers pick up donations, buy staples (meat/milk/bread/canned vegetables), stock shelves, fill bags, distribute food and most importantly, aid those in need. There is no salaried staff at Crisis Bread Basket, and funding is acquired through donations – no government money is used.
At Thanksgiving, Crisis Bread Basket teams up with local businesses and residents to provide turkeys and all the trimmings to our clients who sign up. This year, Crisis Bread Basket and Hays County food bank helped ensure 64 families (more than 250 individuals) had a proper Thanksgiving meal. Numerous other local organizations have helped tremendously over the years by donating their time, food and money to feeding the food insecure.
The Crisis Bread Basket is immensely blessed by the generosity of the community. With your help, we can ensure that no individual or family in Wimberley goes hungry.
